EMMA STEVENS — Nova Scotia

PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONAIRES

Singer-songwriter Emma Stevens, from Eskasoni First Nation in Nova Scotia, is an artist whose music and activism are intertwined with her Mi’kmaq heritage. Rooted deeply in her native language and cultural traditions, Emma’s work celebrates the strength and resilience of her people by merging traditional Mi’kmaq themes with contemporary musical influences.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Commissionaires in 2025, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is honoured to partner with Commissionaires Canada to present a specially commissioned performance piece that addresses the national tragedy of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and the broader crisis of human trafficking across Canada. At the heart of this scene will be a performance by Emma, whose advocacy through music has touched audiences across the globe.

Loved everything from start to finish. The music, especially the bagpipes, the dancers and all acts were first class from start to finish. Loved the acrobatic act. Our seats were perfect. The salute to the fallen service members and the Highway of Heroes was emotional. I was in tears. It was a very enjoyable evening for myself and my friends. I would recommend this event for all ages.
