Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo

For over 40 years, the Tattoo has been dazzling audiences by bringing Canada’s rich history and culture to life. As a non-for-profit and registered charity, we rely on the generous and ongoing support of donors to keep the tradition alive. These many years of success would not have been possible without the loyal support of you, our donors. We are counting on your continued support to help ensure we continue Marching Forward.

At the Tattoo, we strive to celebrate and honour those who serve. By supporting the show, you’re making a direct investment in that mission.

Our team is hard at work making preparations for the Tattoo’s triumphant return in 2021. While the Tattoo may look different as the entire world adjusts to a new normal, our mission remains the same.

Your gift—in any amount—makes a real difference.

More than 40 years - a unique longevity!

With the support of the vast community, including donors like you, the Tattoo has existed for more than 40 years. This is a unique longevity that not many similar organizations have the privilege of experiencing.

Some of the most memorable moments from the last 40 years include:

  • Celebrating the International Gathering of the Clans and opened by The Queen Mother – Inaugural Tattoo, June 28, 1979
  • Recognizing and memorializing the tragedies of 9/11 by mailing a stitched US and Canadian Flag to The White House – 2002
  • Honouring fallen Codiac RCMP (Moncton) heroes – 2014
  • Commemorating the centennial of the Battle of Vimy Ridge with the raising of a model Vimy Monument – 2017
  • Recognizing and celebrating Women in Service – 2018
  • Release of a virtual rendition of Amazing Grace dedicated to SLt Abbigail Cowbrough and the crew of the HMCS Fredericton; the victims and families involved in the heartbreaking tragedies in Nova Scotia on April 18 and 19; and to frontline workers, healthcare providers, grocery store workers, and other key workers who are working tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic – 2020

At the Tattoo, we strive to celebrate and honour those who serve. By supporting the show, you’re making a direct investment in that mission. Learn more about the impact of your support.

The Tattoo has been celebrating the bond of friendship since 1979 never missing a beat, and 2020 was no exception, we’ve just taken a different approach! See what we’ve been up to with Virtual Massed Pipes & Drums performances, Tattoo Time Capsules, and more!

The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo has been a hallmark event in Halifax since its creation, weaving a rich tapestry of Canadian history and culture throughout the show while celebrating the strength, bravery and true grit of the Canadian Armed Forces and other first responders.
