At any given time the Nova Scotia International Tattoo Foundation has a number of projects on the go to meet its mandates of involving young people, developing local talent and keeping the Tattoo going year after year! Here is what the Foundation is working on now:
Pipes and Drums and the
Youth Initiative Program
The Tattoo Foundation is responsible for the Tattoo Pipes and Drums, a community-based group that performs annually in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. The Foundation supports the group financially and provides the Tattoo’s Director of Pipes.
The Foundation is focused on the implementation, support and sustainment of a Youth Piping and Drumming Program throughout the Province of Nova Scotia. The program will focus on the long-term introduction of young people to pipe band instruction outside the competitive format. It will strive for excellence in developing discipline and character and will provide a feed stream of trained pipers and drummers to the Tattoo Pipes and Drums.
The approach will be to establish youth programs in six areas of Nova Scotia and plans are to expand to New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island as the overall program evolves.
